We are moving all Atari Lynx related content over to Atari Lynx Vault and all our shop content over to K-Retro Gaming. Please update your bookmarks!

As a result of this change, the following will no longer be available: Online Lynx Emulator, Collection Tracker, Game Ratings, News. If you are interested in contributing content to Atari Lynx Vault, we are seeking editors and maintainers.

Why is this happening? First - the Atari Gamer branding is changing to K-Retro Gaming to allow us to expand to providing games, replacement parts, and mod services to other game consoles. And second - The content management system running Atari Gamer is out of date and Google AppEngine (where the website runs) will no longer allow it to run after the 30th January 2024, so in order to preserve all content we switched to a new and modern content management system and chose a website domain that better suits the subject matter. Since we are operating this website in our spare time, on top of full time family and job committments, some features had to be dropped.

More news on the Lynx GD from SainT... "Final production Lynx GameDrive PCB's ordered in gold ENIG finish for last bit of testing and then CE & FCC certification. Honestly, not long now... 😄".
If you've been after the Atari Gamer's Atari Lynx cartridge reader/writer/programmer board, you're in luck, we are shipping a small batch of them again! Check the pre-order forum discussion thread here. We'll work on getting extra parts for an additional batch after this.

BennVenn entered the Atari Lynx modding scene last year with his cheap alternative LCD screen mod and now he has his eyes on disrupting the SD/Flash cart market which is currently dominated by the Retro HQ SD Cart and the AgaCart. BennVenn's flash/SD cart is promised to have the following features...

  • Instant ROM load
  • Last loaded ROM memory
  • SD card storage
  • 512Kb SRAM, supporting loading of up to 512Kb Lynx ROMs
  • EEPROM saves (1024 kbit, 128b)
  • Open source MCU protocol (allowing custom menu loaders to be implemented)
  • Upgradeable firmware

We even have the PCB board prototype layout for it, and yes it includes EEPROM, meaning that game saves will be available for those games that use EEPROM. Unfortunately for games that don't use EEPROM (all official Atari Lynx releases) no save states are planned.

  • Even though SillyVenture 2k19 has wrapped up you can still get your hands on the official Atari Lynx themed merchandise from the party. There are T-Shirts in various sizes (with a message from RJ Mical on the back) and calendars available still. If you're interested send an email to [email protected]. Below are the prices, the shipping costs will vary if you're shipping outside of Europe...

    Sv2k19 T-Shirt- 15 EUR + 7 EUR shipping (to Europe)
    Sv2k19 Calendar for 2020 - 8 EUR + 7 EUR shipping (to Europe)

Have you been following the upcoming Lynx GD cart development? Well James from RetroHQ has a new bombshell feature update, check it out - The new Lynx GameDrive cart now supports EEPROM save game data! . This is a feature used in many homebrew games and a welcome addition to the GameDrive! EEPROM images are saved back to your memory card along with the game.
BennVenn was able to return to his property with the Australian bush fire risk lowered. From BennVenn - Our GameGear and Lynx LCD kits have been sitting in storage since late last year, we'll get them out and begin testing and adding to the store. We still need to finish up the 3d frame for the GameGear before we can list them.
Project Argon (an all new Atari Lynx and other retro consoles emulator on Android) by Mark/Space, one of the sponsors of the Atari Lynx 30th Birthday Celebration is at CES 2020, so go check them out!
If you haven't heard, Australia has a serious bush fire situation right now and this is directly impacting BennVenn. This is what BV had to say... Apologies if we don't get to your messages. We expect to be away for some time, until the fire has moved through. We're just hoping the farm, house and office is still here after it passes through!. With luck BV will be back in business and without any damage to their property. Lets hope for some much needed rain.
If you've been following the Atari Lynx homebrew scene, you'd be aware of the in-development game called Captain Harlynx. It's a space shooter in an iconic anime art style reminiscent of many Japanese games. In time for Christmas, there is a new preview video that shows of some new animations and what appears to be the beginning of in-game cut scenes. It looks quite a lot more playable now, very cool! Watch the video here.
There have been more updates to the games and demos from the Sillyventure 2k19 programming competition. The Devil's Show and No Time have had their preview videos updated and both Fishing for Atari and SillySis have final downloadable ROMs now.
