We are moving all Atari Lynx related content over to Atari Lynx Vault and all our shop content over to K-Retro Gaming. Please update your bookmarks!
As a result of this change, the following will no longer be available: Online Lynx Emulator, Collection Tracker, Game Ratings, News. If you are interested in contributing content to Atari Lynx Vault, we are seeking editors and maintainers.
Why is this happening? First - the Atari Gamer branding is changing to K-Retro Gaming to allow us to expand to providing games, replacement parts, and mod services to other game consoles. And second - The content management system running Atari Gamer is out of date and Google AppEngine (where the website runs) will no longer allow it to run after the 30th January 2024, so in order to preserve all content we switched to a new and modern content management system and chose a website domain that better suits the subject matter. Since we are operating this website in our spare time, on top of full time family and job committments, some features had to be dropped.
Here's a bit about the game...
Tetris bricks are falling, the only way to interact with them is to shoot one or more blocks while they drop. You can move on all the already dropped bricks. Of course, the main goal is to make lines, like in real Tetris. You lose if columns are too high, like in real Tetris...
Last year we released Eggsavier's Cackleberry Rescue around Easter time, this year we didn't have time for a brand new game, so we decided to update Eggsavier with graphic improvements, some new sounds and a new 'virus' game play mode where you have to avoid catching viruses instead of trying to catch falling eggs.
You can download it for free over here: https://atarigamer.itch.io/eggsavier.
It's a perfect game to play while you're in isolation during the current pandemic!

We've announced this year's Lynx Programming Competition not long ago. We've now finished putting together our list of sponsors and prizes and are ready to kick things off formally. We welcome both Atari Age and Mark/Space on board!
The prizes have been updated too. The top 3 placing games will each receive a copy of the RetroHQ Lynx Game Drive cartridge and will be offered the chance to have their game published in physical form by Atari Age (with 5 free copies of your game), as well as in digital form by Mark/Space. In addition - the 1st place winner will get a $150USD cash prize, and the 2nd place winner will receive $100USD.
So get ready, and join the competition over at itch.io.
A Bug's Lynx and the A Bug's Lynx eJagFest 2018 Edition have been available to play online for some time now. A physical release was due very soon but due to COVID-19 everything has been thrown into turmoil. So to ease the boredom of staying at hime, Fadest has released the "#Stay@Home Release" version of this game for free on itch.io.
"My first intention was to sell digital (via itch.io) and physical games.
But with all this madness, I guess we need to take care each other, and we need some gardening. So digital is (and will remains) free. Physical relase should come when everything will be back to normal.
This version may not be the final one, some minors changes (bugs, audible music - don't be afraid about pressing Option 2 in order to mute music) may be added in the near future before official release."
The Lynx Game Drive is inching ever so closer to being a reality. Atari Age have listed it on their store. It's not available for preorder yet but you can register for the waiting list. Once available it will set you back $95 USD. Don't know what the Lynx GD is? Here's a description...
"The RetroHQ Lynx GameDrive cartridge allows you to play all your Atari Lynx games and homebrew games directly from a memory card. This updated version of the Lynx GameDrive cartridge has support for EEPROM save games as used by some homebrew software as well as improved game load time (no longer than one second for even the largest games), and an improved game selection menu."
We published this year's April Fool's joke about a Virus found to infect homebrew Atari Lynx cartridges containing EEPROMs. Well there was an actual ROM behind it, so we're making it and the source code available to download and play. The information page is here, you can play the ROM here or download it. Then the source code is available here.
Also don't forget we are running the 2020 Lynx Programming Competition, so if you can code, you should register for that!
