We are moving all Atari Lynx related content over to Atari Lynx Vault and all our shop content over to K-Retro Gaming. Please update your bookmarks!
As a result of this change, the following will no longer be available: Online Lynx Emulator, Collection Tracker, Game Ratings, News. If you are interested in contributing content to Atari Lynx Vault, we are seeking editors and maintainers.
Why is this happening? First - the Atari Gamer branding is changing to K-Retro Gaming to allow us to expand to providing games, replacement parts, and mod services to other game consoles. And second - The content management system running Atari Gamer is out of date and Google AppEngine (where the website runs) will no longer allow it to run after the 30th January 2024, so in order to preserve all content we switched to a new and modern content management system and chose a website domain that better suits the subject matter. Since we are operating this website in our spare time, on top of full time family and job committments, some features had to be dropped.
In 1993, Beyond Games submitted a near-complete demo of CyberVirus to Atari. Now, you can play these missions for the very first time!
This cartridge-only release features 9 all-new, never published missions from the original CyberVirus build submitted to Atari in 1993 for evaluation. The mission text, maps, and objectives are completely unique compared to the version published by Songbird many years later. All the game features you would expect are here — title screens, music, mission briefing, sound f/x, enemies, destructible buildings, terrain, overhead map, multiple weapons, and health indicator. Some missions are very challenging while others are straightforward. The only thing missing from the game is a proper GAME OVER screen; instead, you get a brief GAME OVER message in the final mission briefing, then it takes you back to repeat the last mission again if you choose.
Are you ready to stand in the breach once again? Your country is counting on you, soldier!
This is not a limited release, and it is not a re-release either. This is a brand new set of levels from the original evaluation ROM sent to Atari in 1993, thus this is the first time it has ever been published. Also soon it will be available with a CyberVirus box + Lost Missions sticker on the front.
