As a result of this change, the following will no longer be available: Online Lynx Emulator, Collection Tracker, Game Ratings, News. If you are interested in contributing content to Atari Lynx Vault, we are seeking editors and maintainers.
Why is this happening? First - the Atari Gamer branding is changing to K-Retro Gaming to allow us to expand to providing games, replacement parts, and mod services to other game consoles. And second - The content management system running Atari Gamer is out of date and Google AppEngine (where the website runs) will no longer allow it to run after the 30th January 2024, so in order to preserve all content we switched to a new and modern content management system and chose a website domain that better suits the subject matter. Since we are operating this website in our spare time, on top of full time family and job committments, some features had to be dropped.
Atari Gamer offers a large selection of Atari Lynx ROMs free of charge as downloads. All of the downloadable ROMs can also be played in the Online Lynx Emulator. These ROMs are provided to you as part of our historical preservation effort (you can read about it here).
However, not all ROMs are available for download and there may be several reasons why:
- ROM was never released
- Game is in current development
- The game is currently available as a commercial purchase e.g. as a professionally published homebrew title like Wyvern Tales
- The game author or copyright holder has requested a DMCA takedown
- The ROM is available as part of a commercial offering e.g. Evercade Lynx Collection 1 cartridge
- The rights owner is known and active
Where possible, ROM downloads are available from each of the game information pages, immediately under the game rating...
The game database also has a handy option that shows you whether a game can be played online, if it's ROM is not available or if the ROM can be downloaded. This shows up as an Atari Lynx icon on the far right in the game database listing...
