We are moving all Atari Lynx related content over to Atari Lynx Vault and all our shop content over to K-Retro Gaming. Please update your bookmarks!
As a result of this change, the following will no longer be available: Online Lynx Emulator, Collection Tracker, Game Ratings, News. If you are interested in contributing content to Atari Lynx Vault, we are seeking editors and maintainers.
Why is this happening? First - the Atari Gamer branding is changing to K-Retro Gaming to allow us to expand to providing games, replacement parts, and mod services to other game consoles. And second - The content management system running Atari Gamer is out of date and Google AppEngine (where the website runs) will no longer allow it to run after the 30th January 2024, so in order to preserve all content we switched to a new and modern content management system and chose a website domain that better suits the subject matter. Since we are operating this website in our spare time, on top of full time family and job committments, some features had to be dropped.
We've written about Adding a micro-USB power socket to an Atari Lynx, but not everyone wants to modify, read - cut and drill) their prized Lynx console. So since we always aim to cover everything Lynx related, here's an alternative...
It's a USB to 9V adapter that will plug into your Lynx to power it from a USB charger or battery bank. Using a USB hub is not advised, unless you have a powered hub, since the Lynx requires more amps than a non-powered USB hub can provide.
We tested out this adapter and it works really well. If you want to get a hold of one, it's available from the Yastuna Games shop and from the TechnoComa shop. But now let's have a closer look at the adapter...
It uses a "clear" 3D printed case, with a blue LED to show that it's on. The design is simple and straight-forward. You plug one end into a USB power source, and the other end plugs into your Lynx. It's really as simple as that.
It even looks nice when it's not on. We had a Lynx running and using this adapter for power for hours and the device didn't get hot, so it's quite efficient at converting voltage levels required for the Lynx, and won't melt of course. For a quick an easy way to power your Lynx on the go without using 6x AA batteries, this is a very good way to go!
